In the heart of Pueblo, CO, a groundbreaking venture is on a mission to revolutionize mobility for individuals facing limited mobility challenges. This innovative company, AbleMaker LLC, specializes in the design, patenting, and licensing of medical equipment. At the forefront of their ambitious project is a game-changing product set to transform the industry: the AbleMaker Gen One Convertible Toilet Wheelchair.

The AbleMaker Gen One is not just any wheelchair; it represents a leap in both design and functionality. Unlike traditional wheelchairs, the AbleMaker is sleek, slim, and sophisticated. But what truly sets it apart is its remarkable ability to seamlessly transform into a toilet wheelchair. This dual functionality offers users not only comfort and style but, more importantly, independence and safety in their daily lives.

The AbleMaker Story

The story behind AbleMaker is deeply personal and inspiring. It all began with my mother, Peggy. Growing up, I watched my mom light up every room she entered with her singing and jokes. She always had a knack for making new friends and lifting spirits. However, life took a difficult turn when Peggy became a victim of a botched knee replacement surgery. This unfortunate event led to the deterioration of her patella, leaving her knee in a locked bent position and causing her immense pain.

In 2020, in search of better medical advice and care, we moved from Mississippi to Colorado. The options provided to my mother were heartbreaking: either have her leg straightened out and surgically fused together or undergo an amputation. Hoping to keep her leg, Peggy chose the fusion surgery. Unfortunately, the leg fusion failed just four days after returning home from the hospital. Her leg snapped above the knee due to poor reconstruction by the surgeon, forcing her to undergo an above-knee amputation.

Despite these medical challenges and instances of malpractice, Peggy’s spirit remained unbroken. She focused on her recovery and embraced her new reality with remarkable resilience. Although she had to accept that she would never walk long distances again, she chose to walk as much as she could, even making regular visits to the gym. Her determination and positivity were truly inspiring.

However, life in a wheelchair brought its own set of challenges. One of the most significant struggles Peggy faced was transferring to the toilet. Often, she had to pivot on one foot to make the transfer, a task that frequently resulted in falls, especially when I wasn't available to assist her. Witnessing her struggle, I was driven to find a solution. I began to examine the design of her wheelchair, took some pictures, and traced potential adjustments. Before long, I had an idea that could revolutionize wheelchair design.

The Birth of the AbleMaker

This idea led to the birth of the AbleMaker. The concept was simple yet profound: a wheelchair that could transform into a toilet chair, providing users with independence, safety, and dignity. To bring this idea to life, I turned to Davison Inventing, a company renowned for helping inventors succeed. Their expertise and support have been invaluable.

Davison has fully backed my project and is guiding me through every step of the process. Their assistance includes creating and designing presentation materials, such as digital hand-drawings, virtual renderings, and CAD drawings. They are also handling the provisional application for the patent, ensuring that my idea is legally protected.

One of the most critical aspects of bringing the AbleMaker to market is communicating its value and functionality. Davison is developing an Executive Summary Service, which will highlight the problems the AbleMaker solves and its key features. They are also conducting a Corporation Targeting Service, a four-pronged submission program designed to present the invention to manufacturers, corporations, and industry-specific entities.

The four prongs of the Corporation Targeting Service are executed sequentially. The first prong involves submitting the invention to a targeted group of manufacturers and corporations for their consideration. The second prong focuses on industry-specific manufacturers of similar products. The third prong targets material-specific manufacturers and suppliers, and the fourth prong broadens the submission to include manufacturers outside the specific industry of the invention.

Davison's Idea Presentation Service is another crucial element of our strategy. They will attempt to present the AbleMaker in as many different manners as possible, maximizing its exposure and potential for success.

Once we garner interest from manufacturers, Davison will provide a range of services to ensure the AbleMaker's success. These services include product sample development, package sample development, video sampling, and additional virtual product and packaging services. They will also handle re-conditioning virtual reality, sample, and packaging services to refine and perfect our presentations.

Moreover, Davison will assist with licensing agreements, manufacturing support, royalty management, press campaigns, and sales support. With their comprehensive approach, I am confident that the AbleMaker Gen One will not only reach the market but will also make a significant impact on the lives of individuals with limited mobility.
